Özgür Ilter
Özgür Ilter, an artist-researcher and visual designer from Ankara, currently residing in Budapest, explores the concepts of place, identity, individual and societal perceptions, and ever-shifting relationships with surroundings.
Practicing photography, illustration, and mixed-media, Ilter’s early works were exhibited at prestigious events–the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennale and the 7th International Student Triennale of Marmara University. Noteworthy among her projects is the book From Obscurity to Particularity, which explores Budapest’s Keleti Pályaudvar railway station and was showcased in both Budapest and Berlin. Her portfolio extends to Re:place, a comprehensive project on domestic spaces of nonlocals, presented as a multi-channel installation in Budapest, along with her visual diary exhibited in London.
Currently pursuing a practice-based doctorate on a government scholarship at the Hungarian
University of Fine Arts, Ilter teaches graduate students. Involved in the collaborative artistic research endeavor, BIPs Intensive Workshop–spanning Hungary, Sweden, and Poland–as both organiser and participant, her recent activities include workshops at the Nyitva Festival in Budapest, multiple training scholarships from Project for Public Spaces in New York, and volunteering as a juror for Apexart’s open call in 2023.
Her most recent solo exhibition, Transient Terrain[s], unveiled in Központ, Budapest, marks the second chapter of her ongoing exploration.
