Lecture
The first in the series of guest lectures of A Re-Place workshop was a lecture session titled “Crop” held by Pedro Jervell. We dug into the topic of reuse and search of the available materials, waste, surpluses from shops, industries, houses, and gardens in our cities with the purpose of rehearsing infinite combinations of the harvested materials, decomposing, mixing with each other, to get a new form. This experience of harvesting, transforming, and materializing is an essential component of design in the contemporary urban jungle. Pedro is a member of the Gørvell association interested in exploring and experimenting with the environment, its history and its imaginary, measuring its effects within time and space.
The lecture was followed by a lively discussion among all participating students and mentors, debating the balances between the new, the used, and the renewed with impacts on our ecological imprint and the social attitude
