Marina Kyriakou

Nicosia (Cyprus)

Marina Kyriakou is an architect and urban planner currently working in Nicosia, Cyprus. During her architectural studies (2008-2013) at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg in France, she has done research and projects on transforming underused spaces into community places. She holds a MSc in Urban and Regional Planning (2013-2014) from the Universiteit van Amsterdam, where she focused on soft mobility and also has a “Streets as Places” certificate. In 2018 she started a creative cartography project called Flânerie.

 

Marina is a Placemaking leader of the European Placemaking Network, aiming to enhance the notion of public and common space in urban Cyprus and to promote participatory processes. She is currently collaborating with the NGO Urban Gorillas on a Creative Europe project aiming to transform rooftops into cultural venues. Between 2019 and 2020 she was a trainee of the “Trust in Play” program of the European School of Urban Game Design.
